Fundamentals G. 5

I am struggling with the first part of this question.

"A student prepared a solution of sodium carbonate by adding 2.111 g of the solid to a 250.0-mL volumetric flask and adding water to the mark. Some of this solution was transferred to a buret. What volume of solution should the student transfer into a flask to obtain 2.15 mmol Na+."

I am thrown off by the cation in this problem. Can we assume sodium carbonate is dissolvable in water? Also, would we need to memorize polyatomic ions like "carbonate" and their chemical formulas?

Yes, sodium carbonate is soluble in water. Also, I'm not exactly sure if we have to memorize polyatomic ions, but it would definitely be helpful to do so if you're writing equations and stuff, and it would be useful to know common polyatomic such as sulfate or phosphate! So I don't know if it's required, but I would recommend you do so to help in the future :)
