g or kg in molar mass

Postby hadydamaj27 » Fri Oct 27, 2023 8:44 pm

I know that kg is the standard SI unit for equations in chemistry. However, the numbers on the periodic table are g/mol for mass. So is the units for mass g for molarity and kg for everything else?

Hi, I think this is usually the case from what I have observed!

In chemistry, atomic masses on the periodic table are in grams per mole (g/mol). This unit is used for molar mass calculations. For other equations, the mass is often in kilograms (kg) following the SI unit standard, but grams (g) are also commonly used, especially in laboratory settings.
