Actual Yield

Postby Emily Vainberg 1D » Thu Oct 10, 2019 10:39 am

When calculating percent yield, is the actual yield always given in the problem? We only should know how to calculate theoretical yield and percent yield right?

Yes, actual yield should always be given in the problem when calculating the percent yield. The only instance I can think of when you'd have to calculate the actual yield is if both theoretical yield and percent yield are presented in the problem. Hope this helps!

actual yield will always be based on what the experiment produces when its executed in real life so yeah you won't have to calculate it

Most of the time they will give the actual yield in the problem. If it is not given, then they probably will not ask for you to calculate the precent yield unless other information is given.

If you aren't given the actual yield, you might be given the percent yield instead. The same formula can then be used, you'll just have to rearrange it based off of what you are given in the question.

The actual yield must be given because it is based off the product measured in the experimental data. However, the theoretical yield will have to be found in some questions.

If you are trying to calculate percent yield then the actual yield is always given
