Hi,
When finding the limiting reactant of a reaction, do you all normally convert the mols of reactant to the mols of a product or keep the mols in terms of the reactant? I have seen it done both ways.

It depends on what the question is asking! Sometimes a question will ask what is the limiting reactant and then a follow up of how many moles or the mass of product produced. Hope this helps!

I think you can do whichever is easiest for you, but keeping the mols in terms of the reactant saves some time. However, if the answer asks for mols of product you can just convert the mols of reactant directly to the mols of product. Hope this helped!

Usually I keep them in terms of moles of reactant and compare them to the balanced equation, as this saves a lot of time rather than converting to moles of product for each! However, you should use whichever method makes more sense to you, regardless of time. :)
