delta H = delta U + p * delta V

This equation works when P is a constant, so constant pressure system.

Enthalpy is a way of measuring energy in terms of the internal energy of the system and its ability to do work.

The relationship between delta U and delta H depends on the conditions of the reaction. If the reaction is done under constant pressure, then your delta H would be equal to the sum of delta U and the work done to the system. Under conditions of constant volume, delta U and delta H are equal, since a constant volume means that no work is being done on the system.
