The connect between delta U and Isothermal

Postby 505968276 » Sat Mar 16, 2024 10:41 pm

Hi, I was wondering if someone could explain to me how delta u and delta t are effected when a system is isothermal.

If a system is isothermal then the temperature remains constant (Q2 of MT#2) and since the internal energy of a system is directly proportional to its change in temperature, if there is no change in temperature, there is no change in internal energy.

The change in internal energy (Delta U) is zero because the temperature remains constant, so the system's internal energy doesn't change. The change in temperature (Delta T) is also zero because theres a constant temperature.

In an isothermal reaction, there is no change in temperature since it is an insulated system. The delta U should also be zero since there is no change in temperature and therefore no change in energy.
