Latent Heat Phase Change

Postby 205873468 » Sun Mar 17, 2024 8:37 pm

How does the first law explain systems that undergo phase changes with factors like latent heat?

The first law explains this because energy is just transferred as heat during phase changes. Energy here is conserved as well.

Phase changes are explained by the first law of thermodynamics. It demonstrates that instead of changing the substance's temperature, the energy absorbed or released during a phase change is used to overcome intermolecular forces.
