reversible and irreversible

How do you distinguish between reversible and irreversible reactions in problem? Are there any key words that a question will have to indicate whether a reaction is reversible or irreversible?

You can usually tell if the reaction is reversible or irreversible is by looking at the direction. A reversible reaction can go both forward and reverse while a reversible reaction only will proceed one way. An indicator in a question would probably specify if the reaction can go in two different directions. Also you would tell if a reaction is reversible if there is a state change an example being melting of ice.Hopefully this helps you identify some reversible and irreversible reactions.

Reversible reactions are able to proceed in both directions, shown as ⇆
Irreversible reactions are only capable of proceeding in one direction, shown as →

Irreversible reactions often involve larger changes in entropy, especially if they result in a significant increase in disorder or randomness of the system and surroundings.
Reversible reactions at equilibrium have a ΔG value of zero.
Irreversible reactions may not explicitly mention equilibrium constants, or if mentioned, they could have extremely large or small K values, indicating that the reaction strongly favors either products or reactants.

To determine whether a reaction is reversible or irreversible, take into account the directionality of the reaction, experimental conditions, equilibrium considerations, the physical states of reactants and products, and any contextual information provided.

Irreversible chemical reactions can occur in only one direction. The reactants can change to the products, but the products cannot change back to the reactants. Reversible chemical reactions can occur in both directions. The reactants can change to the products, and the products can also change back to the reactants. You can usually denote this by the direction of the arrows.
