For HW 8.49

OF2(g) + H2O(g) --> O2(g) + 2HF(g)
DeltaH = -318 kJ
What is the change in internal energy for the reaction of 1.00 mol OF2?

Would work always be negative for this kind of problem?

I believe it's negative since you have a positive net moles of gas produced. Therefore you are doing work on the surroundings so it's negative :)
