Will calculations on internal energy and work be on the midterm?

Hi,

The midterm will most likely cover everything we've learned so far, so that would include internal energy and work calculations.

Yes I believe they will be- the midterm covers ch 8, 9, and part of 11-- if you look at the syllabus above the homework problems are listed exactly which sections from each chapter were covered in class, and therefore will probably be tested.
(There were a couple of sections not covered from those chapters).

Calculations about internal energy and work were omitted from the first test because Dr. Lavelle felt we had not covered it as well as we needed to at the time.
He expects us to be able to do calculations for both internal energy and work on the midterm!

Definitely. It was only excluded from the first test since we hadn't done much practice, but we have definitely covered it enough now and most TA and LA workshops have had problems involving those topics on practice worksheets. It is safe to assume that we need to know them.
