Where did U=(3/2)nRT come from? How was it derived?

The 3/2 is a number specific to monoatomic ideal gases. R, the ideal gas constant, is avogadro's number * Boltzmann's constant. This equation can be expressed in a different way as , where N in the number of molecules. This shows that there is a direct relation between the number of molecules and the thermal energy. Also a relationship between temperature and thermal energy is present here.
