### Adiabatic Reaction

What equation can you assume to be true in an adiabatic reaction, and what about the adiabatic reaction makes it true?

### Re: Adiabatic Reaction

Adiabatic means there is no heat transfer so q = 0. From $\Delta U = q + w$ we get that $\Delta U = w$.

### Re: Adiabatic Reaction

Additionally, if you were asked when does Delta U = q, your answer would be:

When w=0 because Delta U=w and q=0 under adiabatic conditions
