Material on Midterm?

Postby aisteles1G » Sat Feb 02, 2019 10:02 pm

So the class website says everything up to the 'end of entropy' will be covered on the midterm. Does this mean all of "2nd and 3rd Law of Thermodynamics" section off the syllabus will be on the midterm?? I feel like that's leaving a lot of material for one week before the midterm and I'm getting quite stressed ahaha. If not, then up to which section of 7th edition book should we go to? Thanks for any help and/or suggestions!!

It will probably go until the end of 2nd&3rd law of thermo (or maybe halfway i just looked at the syllabus and there are a lot of topics haha) because we were just introduced to entropy at the end of Friday's lecture.

I think it will probably go up to what the class website says, up to the end of entropy. Dr. Lavelle is usually pretty good about staying on time with the material and we have until next Wednesday.

Since the midterm will cover entropy, I think at least some, if not all, of the material within the sections of 2nd and 3rd laws of thermodynamics will be covered. However, I recommend just going to lecture to listen to specific things Lavelle goes over to get a solid grasp of exactly what you will need to know.

I'm Pretty sure the exam will include some concepts of the 2nd and 3rd law of thermodynamics

As stated on the class website: Midterm covers: Chemical Equilibrium, Acid and Base Equilibria, Thermochemistry, Thermodynamics to the end of entropy

Last quarter he taught new material until two lectures before the midterm, so I assume that everything stated on the syllabus will be covered.

It goes until the end of enthropy, you will have enough time to learn the topics because Lavelle teaches at a good pace

In the book (6th edition), the exercise questions are split up into topics so you can do all the questions up to the end of the "Entropy" section and before the "Gibbs Free Energy" section, I believe.
