Can someone explain what a reversible process is?

A reversible process is a process whose direction can be "reversed" by inducing very very small changes to a system via its surroundings. Most of the time it occurs with a constant temperature/isothermic.

A reversible process is the form of discrete expansion such that the system does the maximum amount of work possible on its surroundings. It expands in such small steps that the system is, in effect, almost always at equilibrium or just near it. This means that because the system is expanding minutely, any small disturbance in the surroundings could cause them to do work on the system such that the system would no longer be expanding, but have its volume decreased (expansion reversed, ie. reversible process).
