U= 3/2nRT

When is the equation U= 3/2 nrT used? Is it only applicable when the system is isothermal? Also, for this question, is the volume constant and pressure changing?

i think this is used when you have to calculate the heat capacity of an ideal gas at a constant volume

the reaction will most likely not be isothermal.
