Molar entropy

Postby Ashley Bouma 1F » Fri Feb 08, 2019 11:26 pm

How do you decide which diatomic molecule has a higher molar entropy at the same temp? For example HBr or HF?

From the trend I believe there is a decrease in the entropy as the forces between the atoms, molecules, or ions increases. A good example is the three solid compounds NaF with the molar entropy 51.5, MgO at 26.8, and AlN at 20.2

In that instance, you can determine which has a higher molar entropy with which one has greater mass, and since it has greater mass, it also has more elementary particles!
