Final Question

Postby Sydney_Hoang_Dis1B » Mon Mar 20, 2023 1:02 am

I remember there was something about this equation on the final. We were given T = 0K and was supposed to calculate the entropy. If anyone can help me out with understanding this question, that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Anything at 0K has no entropy. This is because the system is already in a state with the minimum energy, since entropy is related to the number of micro states, and at minimum energy, there is only one possible micro state, which in turn implies that there is 0 entropy.

See class notes and assigned problems on residual entropy at 0 K.
