Endothermic reactions

Postby 406003397 » Thu Mar 14, 2024 3:05 am

Can someone clarify how the Second Law of Thermodynamics applies to an endothermic reaction where the system absorbs heat from the surroundings? How does this law ensure that such a reaction can still be spontaneous, and what role does entropy play in this context?

It will be spontaneous for the heat to travel to a colder area, so if the system is colder, heat will travel there spontaneously, as this would fulfill the second law.
