Hi, can someone please explain the concept of degeneracy? Is it just S to the power of molecule? thank you!

when we calculate for degeneracy to get W you take the number of possible orientations of the molecule and raise that to the power of the number of molecules like this, W = (# orientations)^(# of molecules)
In the equation sheet we can see this is related to S through the boltzman constant which is given on the equations sheet (boltzman constant is R constant divided by Avogadros number to help with the conceptual understanding)

W can also = 1 Joule per second. Also remember how they can be related to R and linear and nonlinear molecules.
