Can someone explain to me the second law of thermodynamics?

The second law is pretty much an extension of the first law. While energy cannot be created or destroyed, as stated by the first law, the second law states that the more energy is transformed or transferred, more of it will become wasted and unusable. It also talks about how energy in an isolated system will degenerate into a more disorderly state.

The 2nd law of thermodynamics relates entropy change to heat and temperature, and part of what we now know is that if heat is constant, entropy change will be greater at lower temperatures than at higher ones.

If you only consider the first law, you will only be considering the change in enthalpy of the system. However, the change in entropy also is needed to describe the likelihood that the system will be in a particular state. This leads to the second law of thermodynamics which incorporates the effects of entropy on the system.
