Standard Entropy of Vaporization for Mercury

Postby Dylan Davisson 2B » Sun Feb 04, 2018 9:59 pm

Why is the standard entropy of vaporization for mercury so high considering that it appears stable since it does not participate in hydrogen bonding?

Mercury has a high entropy of vaporization because there are metallic bonds between the mercury atoms, which make it more organized.
