Concept of Second Law of Thermodynamics
My notes are a little confusing. What exactly is the second law of thermodynamics? I know it has to do with entropy, but what about it?

Re: Concept of Second Law of Thermodynamics
The second law of thermodynamics states that in an isolated system, entropy is always increasing and the system degenerates into a more disordered state

Re: Concept of Second Law of Thermodynamics
The 2nd law of thermodynamics relates entropy change to heat and temperature. For example if you connected two rooms that are at different temperatures, the temperature of the two rooms will reach an equilibrium

Re: Concept of Second Law of Thermodynamics
To add onto the previous comments, the second law of thermodynamics states that changes in entropy can never be negative.

In any cyclic process, the entropy will either increase or remain the same
