### Entropy as an extensive property

What is the difference between an intensive and extensive property? Why is entropy an extensive property ?

An extensive property depends on the amount of material while an intensive property is inherent and doesn't change. Entropy depends on the number of particles, so we would consider it to be an extensive property

Extensive properties like entropy depend on the amount of material present, which is why entropy increases as the size of the system increases. Intensive properties like density do not depend on the amount of material present, which is why something like density remains constant regardless of the size of the container
