When your using the entropy equation with delta S= KblnW the units that W converts to is J/s but I was confused because if you use the Kb the units cancel to leave 1/K*s. Aren't the units for entropy supposed to be J/K?
I believe that boltzmann's constant is already in J/K, so I would assume that because the equation involves ln W, the units of W are not involved in calculations, thus leaving the units of boltzmann's constant, J/K, the same for the product.
When W is Watts, the units are J/s; however, when W is the degeneracy, I don't really think there are units for it. This is definitely confusing because Watts are symbolic of units, whereas W in the context of entropy is symbolic of entropy. Hence, this makes sense, because if Boltzmann's constant is in J/K, and W doesn't have units, then the units of entropy = J/K = J/K.
