Absolute Zero

Regarding the Third Law of Thermodynamics, can someone explain why it is impossible to reach absolute zero in a finite number of steps? How does this law help us understand the absolute entropies of substances?

It is impossible to reach absolute zero in a finite number of steps regarding the third law of thermodynamics because as temperature decreases towards absolute zero, the entropy of a system approaches a minimum value. This minimum value may never be zero, however, because acquiring zero would require removing all energy from the system which is essentially impossible.
