What is the W in the boltzmann equation, is it always raised to some power N?

W is the orientation of the molecule, it is usually raised to some power if there are multiple molecules.

W = number of orientations^number of molecules

In the Boltzmann Formula, W is referring to the number of possible ways atoms or molecules in a sample can be arranged with the same total energy. The textbook referred to this as the possible arrangement of microstates. The exponent N is applicable when we are considering something like 1 mol of a substance because that means there are 6.022 x 10^23 molecules/atoms that could all be oriented in a different way. The Boltzmann Formula helps find the statistical entropy, S, not the change in entropy, which makes sense as to why all the possible arrangements of the molecules would be considered.
