### Molar Entropy vs Residual molar entropy

Could someone explain the difference conceptually and mathematically to me?

I thought they were both calculated the same using the Boltzmann equation???

### Re: Molar Entropy vs Residual molar entropy

Molar entropy would be entropy content of one mole of substance under a standard state. Residual molar entropy is more specific in that it is the entropy at zero Kelvin.

### Re: Molar Entropy vs Residual molar entropy

The Boltzmann equation relates entropy to the number of microstates. A microstate is one of many possible molecular arrangements for a given substance. More of these microstates indicate higher entropy.
