### Example problem 9.7

When do you know to multiply by Avogadro’s number?

You would multiply by Avogadro's number when you're trying to find the number of microstates in a mole of a substance. For example, if you had 1.00 mole of CO then you would use 2^6.022x1023 since CO has two orientations and you'd have 6.022x1023 molecules. Because it is such a large number, you can calculate it after applying the ln property ln x^a= a ln x.
