What does Kb stand for in the Boltzmann equation? When you multiply it by Avogadro's number when given 1 mol of a substance, you get R, the gas constant. However what happens when you don't have Avogadro's number?

Kb is the Boltzmann constant. It's on the equation sheet that we're given at the beginning of all of our exams. You also always have avogadro's number because that's also on the equation sheet.

When you don't have Avogadro's number you get a different result than the gas constant.
