### Isothermal reaction

What exactly is the difference between an isothermal reaction and a non isothermal reaction?

### Re: Isothermal reaction

An isothermal process is a change of a system, in which the temperature remains constant: ΔT = 0. A non isothermal process is when the temperature is not constant.

### Re: Isothermal reaction

Another thing to note is that isothermal reactions mean that the temperature is not changing/constant. This means that delta U (change in internal energy) is zero because internal energy depends on the temperature.

### Re: Isothermal reaction

As the previous posts mention, isothermal means constant temperature. Similarly there is also the term isobaric, which means constant pressure.
