### Finding the value of W

How do you find the value of W?

### Re: Finding the value of W

W, or degeneracy, is defined as the number of ways of achieving a given energy state. It can be calculated by counting the number of particles and the number if arrangements/states they could be in. For example, if 2 particles could be in one of two states, W=4, or 2^2. The number of particles is raised to the power of the number of states they could be in.

### Re: Finding the value of W

W is equal to 'a', the number of possible ways to achieve a specific energy state, raised to the 'n' power where n is the number of particles in the system.
