cis and trans entropy
For 4G.5, how is a cis molecule structurally supposed to be arranged? I know for the trans molecule it needs to have its X and Y molecules on opposite sides but I wasn't sure for cis.

Re: cis and trans entropy
cis means same, so for a cis structured molecule, the alike things will be on the same side. I hope this helps :)
Re: cis and trans entropy
Trans is the opposite of cis in this case. While trans will be on different sides, cis will both be on the same side.
Re: cis and trans entropy
For cis, like things are on the same side and trans they are opposite. If looking at a square plane with four atoms the order for cis going around would be A, A, B, B and for trans it would be A, B, A, B.
