Units of W
Does degeneracy actually have any units assigned to it? I'm pretty confused because when canceling the units in the boltzmann equation, it seems that boltzmann's constant already covers the units of entropy.

Re: Units of W
I don't think degeneracy has any units assigned to it, I think it's just a quantitative term. But I'm not completely sure so it would be great if someone could clarify!

Re: Units of W
I also don't think degeneracy has any units because it's just the number of states raised to the number of particles. Like Saumya said, I think it's just a quantitive term.

Re: Units of W
I looked back at my notes, and it does not have a unit assigned to it. Since it is a quantitative term as Saumya and Lakshmi stated, it won't have any units.

Re: Units of W
I don't believe degeneracy has any units associated with it since it simply describes the number of ways of achieving a given energy state, a quantitative value as discussed above.

Re: Units of W
Yeah W does not have any units as it essentially just numbers the amount of possible states.

Re: Units of W
I don't think degeneracy has units because the states raised to the number of Molecules is just a integer and ln of that is also an integer. The only unit owe would follow is the kb unit.

Re: Units of W
There are no units for degeneracy. You can see this because in the equation S = KblnW, the units of S are J.K^-1, which comes from the Boltzmann Constant

Re: Units of W
Don't think degeneracy has units. Tried to look back at my notes and on the internet and it doesn't seem like there is a unit.
