Residual entropy is the entropy that is still left when something is cooled all the way down to 0 K. Since there would be no more kinetic motion, the residual entropy is the disorder of positions. You will not need to calculate it but just understand conceptually (for example, an unsymmetric molecule has more residual entropy than a symmetric molecule)
