Entropy & Isolated System in Equilibrium

Postby Christian_Lee_2K » Sat Mar 16, 2024 10:25 pm

Why is entropy at its maximum when an isolated system is at equilibrium?

Entropy is at its maximum when an isolated system at equilibrium because the change in entropy is equal to 0. Therefore, there is no more change that can be done, which is why it is at its “maximum”.

The maximum entropy is at equilibrium because the system has to stay there since moving would cause entropy to reduce.
