## Entropy and Disorder

Volume: $\Delta S = nR\ln \frac{V_{2}}{V_{1}}$
Temperature: $\Delta S = nC\ln \frac{T_{2}}{T_{1}}$

### Entropy and Disorder

The textbook uses the "disorder" when defining entropy, but Dr. Lavelle avoids using the term "disorder" in his lectures. Should we try to avoid using this term for future references? For example if the midterm/final were to ask to define entropy. And also, can someone explain entropy without using the term disorder.

### Re: Entropy and Disorder

Dr. Lavelle just said he didn't use the term disorder in his description. I think it should be fine to use it in a description.

### Re: Entropy and Disorder

Entropy is the likelihood or probability that that a system will be in a particular state.
