ΔS of vaporization

Why is ΔS of vaporization for most compounds the same (85 J/K)? Is there a concept we have to understand about this fact?

They explain this in the book. I’m not sure but off the top of my head I think the reason for this is that gas molecules of different substances behave in the same way so when liquids become gases they kind of change in the same way (so entropy change is the same). The only reason the change in entropy would be different is if the liquid molecules were sticking together like in the case of water molecules being connected through hydrogen bonding

The delta S of vaporization might being similar for most compounds because, vaporization occurs at 100 degrees Celsius. This is coming from the chart we have seen in class that shows the graph that includes solids, liquids, vaporization, and sublimation. Thus, when you do the calculations you are going to be using that same temperature. Hope this helps (:
