### Total Entropy Change

The book states
When delta S (total) is positive, it is increasing and spontaneous
When delta S (total) is negative, it is decreasing and only the reverse is spontaneous
- Why is only the reverse spontaneous ?

Because the reverse has a positive total entropy change.

positive total entropy change = spontaneous (which as I discussed in class means favorable)
