When does C = 5/2 R or 6/2 R?

Volume: $\Delta S = nR\ln \frac{V_{2}}{V_{1}}$
Temperature: $\Delta S = nC\ln \frac{T_{2}}{T_{1}}$

When does C = 5/2 R or 6/2 R?

When should we use these values in the equations?

C=5/2 R when you are dealing with an ideal gas that has linear molecules.
C=3R when you are dealing with an ideal gas that has non-linear molecules.
