## Change in Entropy

Volume: $\Delta S = nR\ln \frac{V_{2}}{V_{1}}$
Temperature: $\Delta S = nC\ln \frac{T_{2}}{T_{1}}$

### Change in Entropy

What determines whether change in entropy is positive or negative? And what would the signs of the other thermodynamic values be? (i.e gibbs free energy)

Reactions with a neg. ∆G release energy (they can proceed without an energy input (are spontaneous)).Reactions with a positive ∆G need an input of energy in order to take place (are non-spontaneous).

So in the case where gibbs free energy is negative, would entropy be positive?
