Temperature: $\Delta S = nC\ln \frac{T_{2}}{T_{1}}$

Can someone please explain when delta s of the system would be different than delta s for the surrounding?

ΔS(system)=q(system)/T and ΔS(surr)=-q(system)/T so the signs themselves are opposite but also remember that the temperature of the system and the surroundings are not necessarily the same either.

They are different because one system would be releasing heat, while the other is absorbing the heat.
