STP (standard temperature and pressure)
If a problem tells us that the system is under STP conditions (standard temperature and pressure), would the temperature be 0 degrees Celsius or 25 degrees Celsius for this system? I've heard conflicting answers so I'm not sure which one is correct. Thank you in advance!

Re: STP (standard temperature and pressure)
I think that STP is at 0 degrees Celsius. You may have heard 25 degrees Celsius when talking about things in their standard state because 25 is often the temperature given in tables referring to standard states. This is different than STP.

Re: STP (standard temperature and pressure)
I believe STP is mainly used for gases and means 273.15 K (0 C) and 1 atm, but standard state conditions means 298.15 K (5 C) and applies to elements in their standard states, whether they are solids, liquids, or gases at room temperature.

Re: STP (standard temperature and pressure)
Hi! Standard temperature and pressure (STP) means 0 °C (273 K) and 1 atm. On the other hand, values like ΔG° and ΔH° are reported in SATP, or standard ambient temperature and pressure. SATP conditions are commonly used to report data in chemistry. SATP is 25°C (298.15 K) and 1 bar. Hope this helps! :)

Re: STP (standard temperature and pressure)
STP would mean that the temperature is at 0 degrees celsius.

Re: STP (standard temperature and pressure)
STP refers to 0 celsius which converting this becomes 273.15 kelvins.
