Entropy Periodic Trend

Postby abdhi jadeja [2A] » Tue Feb 20, 2024 11:51 pm

Can we think of entropy as generally increasing down and to the right of the periodic table due to atomic size? Or are there other considerations we need to be aware of when for example we are ordering molecules based on their entropy?

The larger a molecule, the more entropy it has!

Hi! When I think about entropy, I like to think about its randomness, therefore the more complex a molecule is, the more it has to work with in terms of being random/chaotic. Typically, the larger a molecule is the more entropy, but it's still important to look at its complexity.
