Units for Calculating Standard Reaction Entropies

Postby Anastasia_3B » Wed Feb 28, 2024 9:19 am

Hello,

Just wondering what units are needed to calculate standard reaction entropies. I believe it is J/(mol x K), however, I saw a youtube video use other units. I just wanted to clarify for the exam/homework.

Thank you!

J/(K*mol) is correct, although you might also see J/K depending on the context of the problem!

Hi, to add on, a good tip might not be to always expect one kind of unit for standard entropies. As the other user stated, we can see multiple kinds of units, kJ/mol, J/mol x C, or even J/g, what really matters in the end is that the units are consistent across the problem!
