Container A is fi lled with 1.0 mol of the atoms of an
ideal monatomic gas. Container B has 1.0 mol of atoms bound
together as diatomic molecules that are not vibrationally
active. Container C has 1.0 mol of atoms bound together as
diatomic molecules that are vibrationally active. The containers
all start at Ti and the temperature is increased to Tf. Rank the
containers in order of increasing change in entropy. Explain
your reasoning.

The correct answer is B<C<A

I don't understand the reasoning at all. Can someone help me? Thanks

There is an error in the solutions manual for this question, the answer should be b<(c=a).

Can someone why the entropies of container A and container C would be the same then?
