Molar entropies

I am confused, what are standard molar entropies and what do we use them for?

They are molar entropies taken under standard conditions with pure forms of the substance. (1 bar and usually, 298K unless specified otherwise)

Okay, I get that conceptually, but how do we calculate them? Do we measure them experimentally or?

If we have to use molar entropies in a calculation they will be given to us.

I know that standard molar entropies are a measure that is absolute and definite at 25 Celsius. I believe that what you are referring to as statistical entropy is the ones calculated using degeneracy (number of ways to reach a possible state, which is related to the probability that a state is more ordered or less ordered.

An interesting video I saw explained entropy being driven by statistics, in that the universe tends to become more disordered simply because there are many more disordered states than ordered states, so probability simply drives it toward the more disordered states.
