relationship between G and Gnot

Postby JasmineChavez 1E » Thu Feb 04, 2016 10:52 pm

If G products= G reactants then how is there a difference between the standard energies of the two that gives us the equation deltaG=-RT lnK ?

Standard Gibb's free energy () and the Gibb's free energy under the specific reaction conditions () are different quantities related through the equation . The reaction can be at equilibrium (), but the values of will still be the same regardless of reaction conditions since they are by definition the values under standard conditions.
