Gibbs Free Energy of Reaction

Postby 106046096 » Sun Mar 17, 2024 3:52 pm

Hi! I just want to make sure, when doing a Gibbs free energy calculation of a reaction, where it is the sum of the products' Gibbs free energy minus the sum of the reactants' Gibbs free energy, you would include every compound into the equation, regardless of the phase changes of the compounds? It is not like calculating an equilibrium constant where you never add compounds that are in the liquid or solid phase.

yes, you indeed include all compounds involved in the reaction, regardless of their phase

yes, you would be correct, you world include all the compounds regardless of their phases.
