Spontaneous Reactions

Postby 106046096 » Sun Mar 17, 2024 4:13 pm

Hi! I was just wondering, is it possible for a chemical reaction to be spontaneous in both the forward and reverse directions? Thank you!

as far as i know, if a reaction is at equilibrium it is going through forward and reverse reactions at the same time and it is possible for both of these to be spontaneous.

yes it is possible and it depends on the gibbs free energy ( if it is negative for one direction and positive in the other)
