Biochemical Processes and Gibbs Free energy

Postby 205873468 » Sun Mar 17, 2024 8:57 pm

Can someone help me understand the applications of Gibbs free energy in the context of metabolic pathways and enzymatic reactions? Essentially, biochemical processes.

Essentially, all you need to know is that Gibbs free energy is negative in spontaneous reactions. These reactions can apply to biochemical processes, and when given that the Gibbs free energy is negative you know that it proceeds spontaneously. In biology/real life, reactions don't usually occur on their own if they aren't spontaneous.
